City of Wasserburg – Website for Design Guidelines
Press Conference
With “Oooh, How Beautiful Is Wasserburg,” we developed a digital companion resource for the city of Wasserburg to support its design guidelines—one that informs, engages, and sparks an interest in the old town. Contrary to the original expectation of a traditional print product, the result is a standalone website that conveys the guidelines’ themes in a contemporary, accessible, and visually sophisticated way.
The visual language interprets the historic urban architecture and combines high-quality architectural photography with vibrant scenes of everyday life in the Old Town. Topics covered by the design guidelines are presented as a digital tour, featuring engaging introductory texts, clear explanations, straightforward guidance on the regulations, and easy-to-understand illustrations to clarify technical terms.
The website does not replace the legally binding Design Charter—it makes its goals visible and understandable. It is aimed equally at citizens, property owners, business owners, and tenants, and is intended to help everyone take shared responsibility for Wasserburg’s distinctive cityscape.
As a digital medium, the platform is accessible at any time, easy to update, and reaches people exactly where discussions about the city take place—on the go, on a smartphone, at a regulars’ table, or in a bar. The concept is complemented by analog formats such as postcards with QR codes and a high-quality printed version of the design code.
