About Frank Abele
Frank Abele studied visual design at the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Applied Sciences, under the guidance of Michael Klar, Harald Stetzer, Michael Burke, and Thomas Rurik, among others. He completed his studies in 1991 with a thesis on the North-South conflict.
That same year, he began working at the Büro für Gestaltung, initially as a design and project manager. Alongside his design practice, he studied social sciences at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich from 1995 to 1999, specializing in sociology under the guidance of Ulrich Beck, among others.
From 2000 to 2024, Frank Abele co-led the Büro für Gestaltung with Ursula Wangler as a partner. Since 2024, he has been the sole owner and managing director of the firm.
Since 2022, Frank Abele has been a member of the master planning team for the UNESCO Management Plan for the Old Town of Bern. In addition, he gives lectures on topics related to visual communication and design and serves as a juror.
