For the NS Documentation Center, we redesigned the wayfinding system in response to renovations, changes in use, and visitor flow analyses: the new elements were developed with a consistent visitor-centered approach, drawing on the architecture and the institution’s thematic focus. The starting point was the question of how the spatial structure could be made intuitively accessible—in relation to the urban environment, along the vertical circulation routes, and within a clearly guided tour.

The wayfinding system translates this spatial logic into a minimalist, precise design. Lightweight, modular elements structure the information and integrate naturally into the architecture. Content is specifically highlighted, clearly positioned, and conveyed objectively.
The design avoids any formal excess. Instead, it reinforces the architectural clarity and develops a consistent system with high legibility and wayfinding effectiveness. Recurring, precisely placed elements combine to form a calm yet vibrant overall structure.
The result is a wayfinding system that does more than simply guide visitors: it embodies the institution’s ethos—openness, scientific precision, and a democratic culture of dialogue.
