Wayfinding in Munich

Wayfinding system for the inner city of Munich

In 2016 we won the competition for a wayfinding system in the inner city of Munich. Glossy white and luminous pillars serve as contemporary and innovative information points for analogue, digital and barrier-free information.

The pillars are located in very busy locations, surrounded by predominantly historic, landmarked buildings. In this environment, they should appear discreet.

The inner city wayfinding system is intended for tourists as well as for citizens of Munich. With their clear presentation, the site plans can be quickly grasped by the viewer. The accentuation of the green urban areas with a bright green tone shows Munich as a city with many opportunities for relaxation.

The maps include public transport, neighbourhoods, squares, infrastructure, tourist attractions, gardens, cultural institutions and museums.

The map and additional information are also available digitally (WLAN, iBeacon).

Client: City of Munich, Department of Labor and Economics
Implementation: Schreiner Coburg
